I remembered vividly that the first time i introduced myself as Coco to my classmates when i was a primary one student.
While everyone was showing his/her sweet smiling face to me, one "naught" boy burst into laughter suddenly and said" 我最鍾意就系飲COCO同睇COCO架啦"(I LIKE TO DRINK COCO and read Coco.)
The others also started to laugh. I was so embarrassed and nearly wanted to cry. (You may think that it' s nothing , but remember i was only a five-years-old kid at that time) .
Nonetheless, he said that my name sound like a name for a dog.
In today's world, it is a kind of bullying, but we dont have this "saying" in my age.
I was a "fighter" with an unconquerable will that i tried hard to prove my name was a nice name.
On the way, I have a clearer understanding of my name, like its etymology and different meanings of it.
Etymology ]
Italian, from Spanish. The fruit was originally referred to by the Spanish equivalent of croque-mitaine (“bogeyman”), due to the spooky face-like appearance of the three dots at the end of the shell, which developed in coco.
As in English, the fruit was originally referred to as coco (in the 16th century), but in the 17th (as in English) it became usual to refer to it as a nut, in the form noix de coco (“coconut”).
